Your emergence as VC, source of our pride, UNN Physiology Department tells U NIZIK Vice Chancellor

Staff members of the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Sciences, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, has described the emergence of the Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie as the 7^th Substantive Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University as a source of pride and honour to the department and the entire Faculty.

Head of Department of Physiology, UNN, Dr Ifeoma A. Orizu made the disclosure on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 when she led a delegation from the department on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor in his office.

 

Before his present appointment as UNIZIK Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anyaehie was at a time in his career, the Head of Department (HOD) of Physiology, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC).

 

 

Dr Orizu who disclosed that the purpose of the visit was to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor on his well-deserved appointment, also expressed delight at the opportunity to reconnect with him after a long time, noting that members of the department came out in large numbers to honour and celebrate one of their own.

She offered prayers for God’s continued guidance, protection, and wisdom for him as he undertakes the demanding responsibilities of his office.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bond Ugochukwu Anyaehie, expressed appreciation to the department for the thoughtful visit despite the distance. He acknowledged the demanding nature of his new role, noting that while the work has been quite hectic, it remains a responsibility he willingly accepted in service to the University.

 

Members of the delegation included Dr. Adobo P. M. Okeke, Dr. Oluchi Okafor, Dr. Vivian Ifeyinwa N., Chukwu Peace, Enweani Chucks, among others.

 The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a gift to the Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by prayers for his success and impactful tenure.
