_Awka, April 18, 2026_ — Dr Alex Obiogbolu on Saturday joined a large crowd of his supporters to attend the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, South-East Zonal Meeting held today, 18th April 2026.
The meeting drew party faithful from across the region, with Anambra North Senatorial aspirant Dr Obiogbolu arriving to cheers from supporters carrying Oganiru-branded materials.
Addressing the gathering, Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, declared that APGA remains a party that honors and rewards loyalty. _A tree that forgets its roots will not stand in the storm_, he said, stressing that committed members must feel the benefits of their sacrifice.
On the forthcoming primaries, Soludo was emphatic: “This coming primary will not be business as usual.” He announced that the primary election will hold at the ward level using Option A4. The Governor warned that there will be “no room for party members extorting money from candidates with empty promises of support.”
Soludo also charged leaders across the zone to reorganize the party “in a better way to run a political party” fit for modern electoral realities. He decried the culture of political tourism, stating that the party will no longer tolerate people who “enter the party for the party to support their political ambition while they move out after election.”
_When a man eats with both hands, he disrespects the host_, Soludo added, insisting that APGA must be built on discipline and shared responsibility.
On appointments, the Governor disclosed that he had informed past political appointees of a new direction: his administration will now prioritize party loyalists who have not previously benefited, “to give them a sense of belonging.”
Dr Obiogbolu, who is seeking to represent Anambra North in the Senate, was received by local government coordinators from Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Ogbaru, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, and Oyi. Supporters described his presence as proof that “APGA is the home of Oganiru — progress and shared prosperity.”
The zonal meeting ended with a renewed pledge by stakeholders to mobilize for ward-level registration and to uphold the Option A4 guidelines ahead of the primaries.
