ANSACA Urges Pregnant Women to Embrace PMTCT Services as World Breastfeeding Week Begins

As the world commemorates World Breastfeeding Week 2026 from August 1 to 7, the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) has called on pregnant women to register early for antenatal care, know their HIV status and access Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) services to help eliminate new HIV infections among children.
The agency said mothers living with HIV can safely breastfeed and give their babies a healthy start in life by adhering to antiretroviral therapy (ART), attending regular medical appointments and following the guidance of trained healthcare providers.
