Cleaner environment beyond aesthetics - Anambra First Lady

Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo has called on residents of the state to adopt environmentally friendly practices that promote healthy living and safeguard the future of coming generations.

She described healthy environment as essential to the well-being of individuals and communities.

Soludo, founder of Healthy Living Initiative, made the remark on Friday in a message to commemorate the 2026 World Environment Day, with the theme – ‘Climate Action’.

According to her, cleaner environment is about protecting lives, preventing diseases and creating a healthier future for present and future generations, the 

“World Environment Day reminds us that healthy living equally begins with a healthy environment.

“The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and the communities we live in are all connected to the decisions we make every day.

“A cleaner environment is not just about aesthetics; it is about protecting lives, preventing diseases and creating a healthier future for us and, most importantly, for our children,” she said.

The governor’s wife urged households, schools, markets and communities across the state to embrace simple but impactful environmental practices.

She listed the practices to include proper waste disposal, maintaining clean surroundings, tree planting and cultivating environmental consciousness.

Soludo reaffirmed the commitment of her Healthy Living Initiative to promoting a culture where personal health and environmental hygiene complement each other.

She urged residents to work collectively toward building a greener, cleaner, smarter and healthier Anambra state.

World Environment Day is marked every June 5 to encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
