Anambra guber: Any party agents, INEC, security personnel involve in electoral malpractices will be sanctioned - Igbo group

Barely one day to the 8 November Anambra State gubernatorial election, a South East based pan Igbo socio- cultural organization, Mohagany Spartans, Thursday, vowed to deal mercilessly with any political party agent/member, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC staff, or security personnel involve in electoral malpractices.
The President of the organization, Hon. Obiora Gablyn Oguonu, made the vow while reacting to situations in the past when ballot boxes were snatched, political thugs had field day to assault electorate, guns and other offensive weapons freely used in favour of a particular candidate.
"We, members of Mahogany Spartans, stand by our position that any devil disciple who out of stupidity or drug influence or whatever reason and try to manipulate the election results, must have himself or herself to blame. Whether you're an INEC staff, security or party agent.
"The electorate go out without fear or favor and fullfil your franchise right. Don't allow yourself to be used, intimidated and don't mortgage the future of your children by collecting money to vote against your conscience.
"Don't be deceived into religious infantilism, don't vote on denomination, tribe or Local Government or town influence. Vote for the rightful candidate who can lead the way," he advised.
Also on the proposed creation of new State for Southeast zone the organization's boss reiterated that if the new state is meant for Southeast zone that it then will be created in Southeast.
"But if It's for Igbo Nation then we will support the Anioma State to give them a sense of belonging but the problem is that some of their elders and spokesmen are still making mockery of the efforts and if It's going to be full of regret later, then we concentrate on the Southeast alone," he maintained.
Reacting on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's trial and continued detention, Oguonu lamented that scores have politicised the issue for their own selfish interest all in the name of fighting for his release.
"If all these unnecessary selfish, myopic and mere traders in politics masquerading as our leaders just do one thing, all these unnecessary tales of Nnamdi Kalu should've been forgotten since. Let all the Southeast senators and National Assembly members, together with the Ministers from South East protest and resign and you'll not only see Nnamdi released but you'll see another version of Nigeria.
"But our stand remains that we are not begging anyone to get him released but if anything untoward happens to him, then all those concerned gonna play the music and dance at the same time," he warned.
