Anambra: Songs of Joy as Hon. Ezenwafor Hands over Nine Houses to Widows in Ekwulobia

Tears of joy flowed endlessly in Ekwulobia community, Anambra State as , songs, and dances , as nine widows received the keys to brand-new bungalows donated by Hon. Afam Ezenwafor, founder of the Afamation Movement Worldwide.
The houses, built in partnership with the Ositadinma Care Foundation, was spread across the nine villages of Ekwulobia. Each widow was selected from her village through what the organisers described as a “thorough and transparent process.”
The bungalows, ranging from two to four bedrooms depending on available land space, were officially commissioned in a ceremony attended by government officials, community leaders, political figures, and jubilant residents.
For the widows, the moment was nothing short of life-changing. Many wept openly, while others broke into spontaneous dance to express gratitude for what they described as “a miracle.”
The Faces behind the joy who were beneficiaries included :Mrs. Ijeoma Justina Onwumelu – Abogwume village,Mrs. Tochukwu Iloh – Agba village, Mrs. Chika Chukwuneke Nwosu – Umuchiana village, Mrs. Fidelia Chukwuemeka Okeke – Eziagulu village, Mrs. Leticia Ezenwosu – Amudo-Umuchi village , Mrs. Regina Ezeokeke – Ihuokpala village, Mrs. Ezeokonkwo Chikaodili – Nkono village and Mrs. Francisca Eberechukwu Ezeokeke – Okpo village
Each of them, overwhelmed by emotion, knelt or danced in appreciation as the keys to their new homes were handed over.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Hon. Afam Ezenwafor said his only motivation was love and obedience to God’s commandment to care for others.
"The driving force is love. The first and last commandment of God is love. The only way to worship God is by loving your neighbour as yourself,” he said. “This has nothing to do with politics. I have always been a giver, and I ask God for the grace to build at least 50 houses for widows in the next eight years.”
He revealed that he did not know the identities of the beneficiaries until the commissioning day, stressing that the process was deliberately kept transparent.
The Anambra state Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, who was present at the unveiling event applauded the gesture, describing it as “a perfect complement” to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of uplifting the poor and vulnerable in Anambra.
Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Ifeyinwa Obinabo, hailed the project as “giant strides in putting smiles on the faces of widows,” praying that God would replenish the resources of the benefactor.
Barr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who was also present at the event described the initiative as genuine service. He also donated 1M to the beneficiaries
“This is the true meaning of giving back to society. Hon. Afam Ezenwafor has touched lives in a way that will never be forgotten,” he said.
Rt. Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, present at the event, commended the efforts of Hon. Afam Ezenwafor saying that it’s a job well done.
“What Hon. Ezenwafor has done is commendable. Putting smiles on the faces of widows is one of the noblest things anyone can do. I pray that God grants him more grace to continue on this path of service.”
The President-General of Ekwulobia, Chief Azubuike Ezechukwu, speaking on behalf of the community, praised Hon. Afam and his brother, Oscar, who co-sponsored the project.
“Ekwulobia will never forget this gift. This is what it means to love one another and serve humanity,” he said.
Deputy Chairman of Aguata LGA, Hon. Kingsley Ezeagu joined the Afamation Movement team at Ihuokpala to hand over one of the houses to a beneficiary.
As the widows settled into their new homes, many described the gesture as a rebirth of hope. What was once despair has turned into relief, security, and dignity.
For Ekwulobia community, the project is more than charity — it is a reminder of the power of compassion to transform lives. And for Hon. Afam Ezenwafor, it is only the beginning of a mission to uplift the downtrodden through acts of love.
