A group, Sustenance of Faith in Good Governance (SOFIG) has condemned what it described as the desperation of some political actors as the governorship election in Anambra state inches closer.
The group spoke in reaction to the trending video presently online where some people were seen trying to block and assault Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the APC Anambra Governorship Candidate at the frontage of a popular hotel in Abuja on the claims that he was owing them N1billion naira.
SOFIG Director of Strategy and Mobilization, Dr Janet Maduka in a statement on Monday said the last night's Abuja incident was a spirited effort to apparently assassinate Ukachukwu whom she described as the “favorite Anambra State Guber candidate in the coming election”
The situation, according to the group has left a sour taste in the mouths of all men of goodwill globally.
The group wondered how gun violence, bitter thuggery, kidnap and bloodshed have suddenly become the State's new normal for the first time in history and expressed regret that Ukachukwu was attacked at the premises of the Abuja hotel by some armed hoodlums numbering about 10 led by an alleged notorious conman (names withheld)
“The assailants who reportedly came in a flash seemingly from nowhere, blocked Ukachukwu on his way out of the hotel. The hoodlums insisted on talking to him and taking him away claiming he was owing them which he politely declined and rather offered a scheduled appointment, especially as he told them he didn't know any of them.
“Ukachukwu politely told them that as they could see he was on his way out to a very important business meeting but they refused, and instead chose to use guns on him to force him into submission to follow them”.
“The security men attached to the APC Governorship candidate noticed the unusual development and quickly rose to the occasion of protecting their principal from being whisked away by the strange gunmen” SOFIG stated.
The group disclosed that within less than three minutes of the incident, the Anambra government’s media handlers already on standby in the orchestrated political plot, hit the various social media platforms with the twisted story.
“They planted cameras, taken their shots, and boom, it was all over the places and even the hoodlums refused to state the business transaction they were referring to” the statement added.
SOFIG urged the Soludo administration to campaign with his perceived achievements in office instead of resorting to brutality against political opponents
“Elect Ukachukwu/Ekwunife to take over and rescue Anambra State from this decay. A stich in time, saves nine" SOFIG declared.
