Anambra First Lady condemns assault on corps member by vigilante operatives

Says Anambra’s image is priceless and must be guarded jealously

From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha

Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo has expressed outrage over the reported assault meted on a serving corps member in Anambra state by men of Agunechemba security outfit in the state.

A trending video where the vigilante operatives dealt mercilessly with some corps members serving in Oba community, Idemili South LGA leading to the indecent exposure of one of the female corps member has since gone viral on the social media space eliciting various reactions.

The Anambra First Lady, Mrs Soludo while reacting to the incident in a short statement on Tuesday evening said  there’s  no justification whatsoever for such an ugly and humiliating abuse.

She said : “I’ve seen a viral video of the sad incident — reported to have happened in Oba, Idemili South LGA — involving men of Agunechemba security formation and a female corps member who is serving in Anambra State. There’s no justification whatsoever for such an ugly and humiliating abuse.

Mrs Soludo stated that such demeaning approach to law and order does not in any manner reflect Anambra people’s celebrated identity as hospitable and peaceful people and does not also represent the humane philosophy of the Soludo administration either.

“There are always rules of engagement in such situations, and they must prioritize dignity, civility, and respect. I find the Oba incident very disturbing and appeal to appropriate authorities that are already looking into it to take critical measures to not only entrench justice but to, most importantly, ensure that we do not see such worrisome scene ever again.

Anambra’s image is priceless. We must guard it jealously” she stated
