Ejizu Family Mourns As Monsignor Christopher Ejizu Is Laid To Rest

The Ejizu family of Okpuno Community in Otolo, Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra State, was plunged into deep sorrow as they bid a final farewell to one of their own, Monsignor Prof. Christopher Ejizu. A revered Catholic priest, esteemed educator, and prominent member of the Nnewi Diocese, Monsignor Ejizu was laid to rest at the Nnewi Catholic Cathedral, leaving the community to reflect on his extraordinary life and enduring contributions.

Monsignor Ejizu, who dedicated his life to both the priesthood and academia, passed away recently, marking the loss of a distinguished figure who made an indelible impact in both spiritual and educational circles. The solemn funeral service drew an array of dignitaries, including priests from the Nnewi Diocese and beyond, lay faithful, family members, academic associates, and countless friends, all of whom gathered to honor the memory of a man whose influence reached far and wide.

Dr. Mike Omenugha, fondly known as Ichie Obama of Nnobi, delivered a deeply moving address during the ceremony. He eloquently reflected on the sacred nature of an ordained priest’s life, explaining that every priest belongs to the Church and, as such, is interred within the cathedral of their diocese. Dr. Omenugha, a respected member of the Knights of the Church, expressed his profound grief over Monsignor Ejizu’s untimely passing, calling it a staggering loss. He extended heartfelt condolences to the Ejizu family, acknowledging the irreplaceable void left behind.

In honoring the late priest’s legacy, Dr. Omenugha also paid tribute to his close family ties, particularly noting that Monsignor Ejizu was the elder brother of Ben Ejizu, a fellow Knight of the Church. He prayed earnestly for the eternal repose of Monsignor Ejizu’s soul, seeking God’s forgiveness for any shortcomings and asking for divine grace to usher him into God’s eternal embrace.

Chief Emma Akuneseokwu, known as Onurude Nwanne and a beloved in-law to the Ejizu family, also shared his thoughts during the ceremony. Chief Akuneseokwu, a distinguished figure from Imo State, praised Monsignor Ejizu’s exemplary life, emphasizing that his virtues were worthy of emulation, regardless of his clerical status. He offered fervent prayers for the peaceful repose of Monsignor Ejizu’s soul, imploring God to grant him eternal peace.

The funeral of Monsignor Christopher Ejizu was not merely a farewell to a cherished priest, but a celebration of a life dedicated to service, faith, and love. As the Ejizu family, friends, and community come to terms with this immense loss, they are reminded of the profound legacy of compassion, commitment, and devotion that Monsignor Ejizu leaves behind,one that will continue to inspire all who were touched by his presence.
