Ex- APGA Chieftain Wants APC National Leadership to Support Anambra 2025 Election

By Polycarp Ifeanyi, Onitsha

Hon. Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, the former All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Ogbaru Federal House of Representatives in the 2023 Nigerian general election and former Ogbaru Local Government Council Chairman, has called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support full and total the party in the state in its determined effort at winning the upcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election slated for 8 November, 2025.

Hon. Awogu, who is currently the National Coordinator of Ikemba Front, a grassroots political movement in Anambra State, emphasized that the APC at the national level should shun all distractions and trogan horse from the opposition party in Anambra State in what he described as the ongoing deceit and erroneously held impression about elections in Anambra as the state prepares for the 2025 gubernatorial election.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Ikemba Front Atani Ward One Polling Units Executives and its mega rally in Atani, the headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Awogu, who is also the former National Coordinator of Soludo Support Group (SSG), made the call.

“Today, we make this affirmation to the hearing of the national leadership of our great party, particularly those in the Villa: that all former APGA members that worth their onions have joined APC, as represented by us here and many others who are part of the APC renewed movement in Anambra State. We are stating clearly that the APC at the national level has no reason to fret once they are 100% committed to the journey toward the 2025 gubernatorial election,” he said.

“As soon as we are done with the primaries and the right person is handed the flag of our great party, we will throttle down to Agu-Awka government house. Nothing will stop APC because the current administration has become a monumental failure irredeemably so, and the people of Anambra State are in dire need of alternative, which APC readily provides. The time for APC is now, this is our time, this is our era, this is our season. Nothing is stopping APC,” added Hon. Awogu.

He further explained the difference between the old APGA and the current APGA, stating that when they talk about APGA being a shadow of itself, many might not understand.

“We want those in Aso Rock Villa and the national leadership of APC to realize that we, who are here now in APC, made the APGA of old. What we have today as APGA is merely a shadow, they call it ‘Solution’ not APGA, and it has nothing to do with our eternal leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu whose goodwill the old APGA enjoyed.

“The current governor under 'Solution ' not APGA, has disrespected Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in very many ways. He claimed to have won the election based on his personal popularity, not on the basis of the party whose acceptance by the people was tied to Dim Ojukwu (amuma na egbe igwe), thereby denying us our eternal leader, the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu,” he continued.

Hon. Awogu further emphasized his point by presenting photographs and cloth materials of the old APGA Party alongside those of the current "Solution' APGA, highlighting how the image of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu has been erased and discredited by the 'Solution' party. He reiterated that the spirit of APGA has left, leaving mere ‘Solution,’ which, according to him, has nothing to do with the true APGA party that enjoyed the support of the people of Anambra State who are well aware of this shift and said it is important that Abuja understands this fact.

The inauguration of Atani Ward One chapter of Ikemba Front witnessed the presentation of awards to deserving individuals among whom were the late Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, who was given a posthumous award; Sir  Basil Ejidike, the Anambra State chairman of APC; Sen. Dr. Uche Ekwunife, the DG South East Governors Forum and a two term Senator; Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, the Executives Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines Limited; Sir Paul Chukwuma, a leading aspirant for the ticket of the party; Dr. Chidi Okoye, the Founder of Ikemba Front, among many other outstanding individuals.
